Traditional Hawaiian method of fishing works well to reduce snags in rocky areas.  Use a sliding bobber and rod-length leader.  Cast off shore over a reef and the bobber will keep your bait out of the rocks and in the strike zone.  Works great in Cabo, the East Cape and along any rocky stretch of beach.

Rig it with a bonito fly and cast offshore, pulling rod to the side and splashing the bobber for bonito fishing during October, November and December at places like Redondo's King Harbor, Seal Beach Pier and Malibu.
